Jordan gained experience in game development by independently creating fan-games based on existing properties, such as Pok\u00E9mon and Dragon Ball Z. Whilst successful, these endeavors were not profitable, and Jordan intended to complete his post-secondary education and create games based on original intellectual properties. RWBY: Grimm Eclipse was built in the Unity engine over a period of around 5 months, and was to be his last fan-game before he moved on. Jordan independently re-created all the assets from the show, modelling and texturing environments, character models and weapons. The game demo was released to the public on April 1st, 2014, the 10th anniversary of the founding of Rooster Teeth. The overwhelmingly positive fan reaction drew the attention of series creator Monty Oum, who contacted Jordan less than 24 hours after the game's release. At the RWBY Panel at RTX '14, it was announced that Rooster Teeth was hiring Jordan and officially adopting Grimm Eclipse.
