The Chicago Blackhawks chose him 40th overall in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. Leroux turned pro with the Indianapolis Ice in 1996-97 and then went up to the Blackhawks in 1997. He spent four seasons mostly as a fourth-line forward and defensive specialist. He also spent time in the press box as a healthy scratch.
