In the very first game for the brand new Tampa Bay Bandits, in spring 1983, Ragsdale was set to return the inaugural kick off. Ragsdale broke his leg in that opening kick and never played professional football again. He remained on contract and on the roster through 1985, when the USFL and the Tampa Bay Bandits franchise, after 3 winning seasons proved unprofitable and folded. In 1985, Ragsdale and his family moved to North Carolina for a coaching job. He is currently the interim head football coach at his alma mater, North Carolina A & T University in Greensboro."@en .
