An ID card is one of the most important pieces of equipment you can have. It allows you to open Airlocks, and be identified by other people, amongst other things. Your ID card is equipped in the id slot, when you are wearing a Jumpsuit. If you take your jumpsuit off, you will also drop your ID card. Your ID card will publicly display a name and a job. Additionally, the card will have a set of permissions contained within it. These control which doors you can open - you will have to ask another crewmember or the AI to open the door for you if you don't have high enough permissions. APC's and secure lockers require you to swipe your ID over them to unlock them. You need to take your id into your hand to do this. An ID card is a piece of paper or plastic that contains information used to identify the bearer. In Headquarters, these are carried by agents and can come in extremely handy if, say, a random body-swap occurs and you need to know who you're stuck in. They are issued by the Department of Personnel. ID cards are cards that are used to verify a person's identity, often within a professional workplace. Depending on the security level, they can grant clearance to enter restricted areas, and may themselves function directly as card keys. This card can be used to gain access to certain area with a card reader. <default>ID Card</default> Obtained From: Location: Appearance: This fake ID enables April to move into the upper (literally) echelons of society – namely Grendel Avenue. Ordinarily a fake ID of this calibre would cost thousands of dollars, but April pays for hers with an anti-gravity unit. Obtained from Burns Flipper. ID Card (IDカード ID Kādo) is an item found in the Egg Corridor. Its functions are similar to that of a key's. In concept art, the card shows a white tie-wearing Mimiga whose appearance is similar to Igor's, suggesting that the card belonged to him before he ate a red flower and became rabid. The ID card or keycard is an item which is featured in Submachine 2: The Lighthouse, Submachine 6: The Edge, Submachine 7: The Core, Submachine 10: The Exit, and Submachine: Future Loop Foundation/Submachine: FLF. These cards were originally used by people working in the submachines to activate/deactivate different devices. An ID card is rectangular, measuring 8.6 x 5.5 x .8cm. The face of the card displays text information in a standardized format, which typically includes: a physical description (height, weight, skin/hair/eye color, etc) of the holder, a photographic image of the individual, the individual's hand-written signature and thumbprint, and text or graphics identifying the issuer of the card. The back of the card may or may not contain additional information.

APC's and secure lockers require you to swipe your ID over them to unlock them. You need to take your id into your hand to do this. You can have your job changed and your permissions upgraded by talking to the Captain or the Head of Personnel, who should have access to a machine. You will have to give them your card (by putting it on a table or dropping it) in order for them to change your details. If you hide your face with a mask, you can appear as someone else by wearing their ID card or appear as 'Unknown' if you're not wearing one. If you show your face however, people will recognize you and notice you are messing with your id. If you speak your voice will give you away too if you're not using a voice changer.
