At the time of the Galactic Civil War, the former Imperial senator and big game hunter Johhar Kessen owned a terentatek's head mounted as a trophy. The Terentatek was a massive Dark Side creature that fed off of Force energy of beings. At one point, the terentatek were rampant throughout the galaxy, which instigated the Great Hunt. The terentatek were hunted down and nearly extinguished during the Great Hunt, but a few remained on worlds such as Korriban and Kashyyyk. Revan had to kill three terentateks on Korriban, one to free several students who had deserted the Sith Academy, the other two to pass the final test to become a Sith Apprentice at the Academy. On Kashyyyk, the terentatek had killed Bacca, the father of the Wookiee Chieftains, and his sword was lost inside its thick hide. Terentateks were giant, uncontrollable creatures the size of ten rancors. They were (sadly) rare, and found on really evil planets, like Korriban. The only person that could kill them was God or Revan, who beaten two up with his bare hands. Some sources claim that they were first created on Yavin 4 by Exar Kun as one of his experiments in 3,997 BBY. During an event known as the Great Hunt, numerous Jedi traveled throughout the galaxy to try to exterminate the terentatek. None of the hunts were ever completely successful, and terentatek numbers would gradually rise again. They were one of the most dangerous creatures ever bred by the Sith. They were so powerful and dangerous to the Jedi that they were often dubbed "Jedi Killers." Even though Korriban was destroyed by the third Death Star, terentateks are known to have been found on Kashyyyk, Tatooine, Onderon, Tython, and Yavin IV. There are doubtless other worlds out there where the terentatek still lurks.
