In 1997, he was elected as chairman of the RTP until 2004 when the party merged with Oceana Christians. He participated in the elections of 1998 and 2002 but did not get a seat in Congress. He again became chairman of the RTP, a post he is still holding, when it was reformed in 2010. For ten years, he did not have a function but he participated in the 2010 Federal Elections and was elected as a member of the 2011 Congress and also of the 2012 First Congress.
