Full name Class Nationality First appearanceThe Black Gryphon (novel) Commander Garber was next-in-command of the Sixth under General Shaiknam defending Tantara against Ma'ar in the Mage Wars. He was a completely by-the-book officer who avoided the front lines and joined Shaiknam in his beliefs that non-humans were dumb animals and troops were expendable. Because of their overall stupidity and callous attitudes, Urtho put both of them on 'detached duty for medical reasons'. (The Black Gryphon, Chapter 12) Unfortunately, they were returned to command of the Sixth following the deaths of the command staff Urtho had put in their places.

(The Black Gryphon, Chapter 12) Unfortunately, they were returned to command of the Sixth following the deaths of the command staff Urtho had put in their places. Garber and Shaiknam being returned to the border was doubly unfortunate when they revealed their treachery was revealed and allowed Ma'ar's armies to march into Tantara. Presumably, they later died in the Cataclysm that ended the war.
