Burger was no stranger to science fiction television before joining the staff of Voyager. She was previously a writer and producer on the popular science fiction series Quantum Leap, starring Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell, and served as a writer and supervising creative consultant on William Shatner's TekWar. She also wrote a number of episodes for Gene Roddenberry's Earth: Final Conflict. In November 1992 she was interviewed for the Starlog magazine by Lee Goldberg, titled "Leap Years".

Burger was no stranger to science fiction television before joining the staff of Voyager. She was previously a writer and producer on the popular science fiction series Quantum Leap, starring Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell, and served as a writer and supervising creative consultant on William Shatner's TekWar. She also wrote a number of episodes for Gene Roddenberry's Earth: Final Conflict. Her other writing credits include Remington Steele (1985-1987), MacGyver (1986, for which she also served as executive story consultant), Matlock (1986-1987, also as executive story consultant and editor), Beauty and the Beast (1987, starring Ron Perlman), Renegade (1993-1996, on which she also served as supervising producer), and Diagnosis Murder (1994 and 1998). In November 1992 she was interviewed for the Starlog magazine by Lee Goldberg, titled "Leap Years". More recent projects include credits as writer and supervising producer on the spy comedy series She Spies (2003-2004) and as story editor on the drama series Wild Card (2005).
