Abner
rdfs:comment
Abner is a character from All Hail King Julien. He is a rebellious, dim-witted hillbilly lemur who, along with his wife, Becca, repeatedly tries to overthrow King Julien. Originally a mild mannered lemur with a dirty water hole problem, he is now an avid fighter for lemur freedom thanks to Banana Guy Mike. Who is really just King Julien in disguise. Upon the "death" of Banana Guy Mike, Abner and his wife Becca took over LALA and swore to avenge their fallen leader by overthrowing the king. Abner is Master Payne's right-hand man, and as such, the second in command in Master Payne's Circus of Adventure. (Well, maybe third in command behind Payne -- who's second -- and Countess Marie, who really runs things, although Payne wouldn't admit it.) He first [ appears] [[Chronology - Volume #|✣ ]] as Agatha and Krosp are bringing the lost Balthazar back to camp. This is merely the first of a very large number of scenes that will feature him; he's an important guy in the saga of the Circus, as befits his rank. Abner is only referred to incidentally in Saul's history (1 Samuel 17:55, 26:5), and is not mentioned in the account of the disastrous battle of Gilboa when Saul's power was crushed. Seizing the youngest but only surviving of Saul's sons, Ishbaal, Abner set him up as king over Israel at Mahanaim, east of the Jordan. David, who was accepted as king by Judah alone, was meanwhile reigning at Hebron, and for some time war was carried on between the two parties. Soon however, Ishbaal was assassinated as he slept, and David became king of the reunited kingdoms. Abner is a citizen of Cobb Corner. Abner is a character in the 2016 remake of Pete's Dragon. He is a lumberjack who helps Gavin Magary hunt the dragon name Elliott in a woods. Abner is a mentally-ill obese criminal who acted as a henchman of both Two-Face and The Joker, being the only henchman other than Bruno to remain a member of the Joker's squad by the time of the 1980s. Abner was formerly an imprisoned angel, who fell from Heaven due to Metatron's spell. After the fall, Abner took possession of an abusive father named Alexander Sarver and decided to live a human life with Sarver's family as he found happiness in a human life. Under Metatron's orders, Gadreel killed Abner. Abner is a mentally ill henchman of the Joker who fights Batman and Robin (Carrie Kelley) during the events of Dark Knight Returns. He is a talented explosives expert. Two-Face commissions him to help with a terrorist attack for ransom, but Abner sabotages the device so the bomb will blow up prematurely and kill him. Batman is able to rescue Two-Face and the bomb explodes inside of a helicopter thousands of feet in the air. Bartholomew Wolper declares that the Joker has recovered from his insanity and releases him from Arkham Asylum, going on to do talk show guest appearances. Abner uses a flying bomb in the shape of a small child to murder an entire studio audience while Joker escapes police custody. They visit a carnival where he assists the Joker in massive slaughter until they are brok Abner is Arnold's pet pig in the Hey Arnold! TV Series. Abner was given as a wedding gift to Arnold's parents, Miles and Stella, from the "Green-Eyed people," who they helped save ("The Journal"), even though Grandpa Phil wanted to barbecue him on the spot. Stella first mistook Abner for a sow (a female pig) and wanted to name him "Abigail" until she learned that he was a boar (a male pig). Abner's best talent is digging out truffles. Abner is usually voiced by Craig Bartlett. Most likely, Abner was born in San Lorenzo, and is older than Arnold, as potbellied pigs can live up to 15-20 years. Abner once collected parts with Aldo which the two would give to Paet. However when Abner met Edge he told him that he had not been asked to collect parts recently. When Viaman requested Edge’s assistance, he gave Edge a pass to enter the Holy District. Abner was asked to deliver it to Edge. When he found out that a mere hunter could get access to the Holy District so easily he was quite put out. He told Edge that he had been working for the Holy District for years and said he would quit. Meaning: father of light; i.e., "enlightening." This was the name of the son of Ner and uncle of Saul. He was commander-in-chief of Saul's army:. He first introduced David to the court of Saul after the victory over Goliath. After the death of Saul, David was made king over Judah, and reigned in Hebron. Among the other tribes there was a feeling of hostility to Judah; and Abner, at the head of Ephraim, fostered this hostility in the interest of the house of Saul, whose son Ish-bosheth he caused to be proclaimed king.

They visit a carnival where he assists the Joker in massive slaughter until they are broken up by Batman and Robin. Robin fights Abner on a roller coaster, and he manages to start choking her until he is decapitated by the ride Abner is a character in the 2016 remake of Pete's Dragon. He is a lumberjack who helps Gavin Magary hunt the dragon name Elliott in a woods. Abner is Arnold's pet pig in the Hey Arnold! He is shown to be like Arnold's best friend (next to Gerald, of course). Arnold has been shown to be completely devastated when Abner is in any danger; such as going missing (Abner Come Home), and even more so when he is captured and nearly barbequed (The Pig War). Abner's doppelganger from the episode "Arnold Visits Arnie" is Abigail. He made his first appearance in "Eugene's Bike." He has gotten fatter in Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie. A state of war existed between these two kings. A battle fatal to Abner, who was the leader of Ish-boseth's army, was fought with David's army under Joab at Gibeon. Abner, escaping from the field, was overtaken by Asahel, who was "light of foot as a wild roe," the brother of Joab and Abishai, whom he thrust through with a back stroke of his spear. Being rebuked by Ish-bosheth for the impropriety of taking to wife Rizpah, who had been a concubine of King Saul, he found an excuse for going over to the side of David, whom he now professed to regard as anointed by the Lord to reign over all Israel. David received him favorably, and promised that he would have command of the armies. At this time Joab was absent from Hebron, but on his return he found what had happened. Abner had just left the city; but Joab by a stratagem recalled him, and meeting him at the gate of the city on his return, thrust him through with his sword Abner is a character from All Hail King Julien. Since then, LALA's attempts at killing King Julien have all ended with Clover beating them up and the King going on with his life being none the wiser. Though it seems that Becca and Abner are the only members of LALA, they have repeatedly used Mort's to carry out their brillant plans. When the Imperial troops arrived in Zoah, Abner became worried about the Empire’s weapon that could destroy an entire town. Before Zoah was destroyed he became friendly with Edge and told him that he was welcome to stay in the Liberal District. Abner, who's generally a pretty good-hearted soul, feels real [ sympathy] [[Chronology - Volume #|✣ ]] for Agatha as the story of her arrival develops. Although he has moments of doubt because of her story of fleeing from Castle Wulfenbach, he starts to extend an invitation to Agatha to stick around, but is hauled up short by the indignant Pix, who points out that that invitation is Payne's to offer, not Abner's. When Payne eventually [ decides] [[Chronology - Volume #|✣ ]] that Agatha should not travel with the Circus, Abner is visibly upset, but like a good underling, he goes along with it. This just deepens his conflict with Pix, who's on Payne's side in this decision -- but of course, we know how that turns out. The only engagement between the rival factions which is told at length is noteworthy, inasmuch as it was preceded by an encounter at Gibeon between twelve chosen men from each side, in which the whole twenty-four seem to have perished (2 Samuel 2:12). In the general engagement which followed, Abner was defeated and put to flight. He was closely pursued by Asahel, brother of Joab, who is said to have been "light of foot as a wild roe" (2 Samuel 2:18). As Asahel would not desist from the pursuit, though warned, Abner was compelled to slay him in self-defence. This originated a deadly feud between the leaders of the opposite parties, for Joab, as next of kin to Asahel, was by the law and custom of the country the avenger of his blood. However, according to Josephus, in Antiquities, Book 7, Chapter 1, Joab had forgiven Abner for the death of his brother, Asahel, the reason being that Abner had slain Asahel honorably in combat after he had first warned Asahel and had no other choice but to kill him out of self defense. This battle was part of a civil war between David and Ishbosheth, the son of Saul. After this battle Abner switched to the side of David and granted him control over the tribe of Benjamin. This act put Abner in David's favor. The real reason that Joab killed Abner was that he became a threat to his rank of general. He then justifies it later by mentioning his brother. For some time afterwards the war was carried on, the advantage being invariably on the side of David. At length, Ishbaal lost the main prop of his tottering cause by remonstrating with Abner for marrying Rizpah, one of Saul's concubines, an alliance which, according to contemporary notions, implied pretensions to the throne (cf. 2 Samuel 16:21ff.). Abner was indignant at the deserved rebuke, and immediately opened negotiations with David, who welcomed him on the condition that his wife Michal should be restored to him. This was done, and the proceedings were ratified by a feast. Almost immediately after, however, Joab, who had been sent away, perhaps intentionally returned and slew Abner at the gate of Hebron. The ostensible motive for the assassination was a desire to avenge Asahel, and this would be a sufficient justification for the deed according to the moral standard of the time. The conduct of David after the event was such as to show that he had no complicity in the act, though he could not venture to punish its perpetrators (2 Samuel 3:31-39; cf. 1 Kings 2:31ff.). Abner was buried in Hebron. His tomb, according to a medieval Jewish tradition, is considered to be in a building not far from the Cave of the Patriarchs. Soon however, Ishbaal was assassinated as he slept, and David became king of the reunited kingdoms.
