After John Sheridan had disabled most of the EA fleet around Mars, his fleet proceeded to Earth where he sent a worldwide radio broadcast asking the people of Earth to rise up against Clark. Feeling she finally had the reinforcements to do so, she led a crowd of EA personnel to Clark's office with the intent of arresting him, however Clark committed suicide before they could take him in to custody. In one last vindictive act, Clark had turned the planetary defense grid back on to Earth under a "scorched earth" policy. Clark left a note upon which he had written "The Ascension of the Ordinary Man" over and over, with the letters making up "Scorched Earth" circled. Realizing what Clark had done, Crosby reached out to Sheridan and informed him that while Clark was dead, he had turned the defence grid on to Earth. Crosby and her allies were unable to override the system. Knowing an attack by the grid would devastate most of the planet Sheridan and his forces launched a full scale attack on the grid. They were able to destroy the defense platforms before they fired. Sheridan was prepared to ram the final platform that was targeting North America's eastern seaboard) with the Agamennon, but the EAS Apollo (previously fighting against Sheridan) showed up to destroy the platform and save Sheridan's life. Crosby and her allies temporarily took control of the situation in Earth Dome afterwards. She was unable to shut down the jammers preventing communication outside Earth space, so Stephen Franklin was sent to make contact with Babylon 5. A short time later Susanna Luchenko of the Russian Consortium was named to succeed Clark as President.
