Deucalion (デューカリオン Dyūkarion?) is a gigantic Martian Kataphrakt that appears in the ALDNOAH.ZERO television series. It is piloted by Viscountess Orlane, an Orbital Knight. Deucalion is parallel to Biblical Noah and to Utnapishtim, the survivor of the Sumerian flood that is told in the Epic of Gilgamesh. It has been suggested that Deucalion's name comes from δεύκος deucos, a variant of γλεύκος, "sweet new wine, must, sweetness" + ἁλιεύς halieus "sailor, seaman, fisher". His wife Pyrrha's name is somewhat more certain: it is derived from the adjective "πυρρός, ά, όν," meaning "flaming (figuratively, never with actual fire)" or "flame-colored, orange". Cuando Zeus decidió finalizar la Edad Dorada con el gran diluvio, Deucalión, por consejo de Prometeo, construyó un arca y, disponiendo dentro de ella lo necesario, se embarcó en compañía de Pirra, en un mito similar al del judío Noé. Zeus hizo caer desde el cielo una copiosa lluvia e inundó la mayor parte de la Hélade, de manera que perecieran todos los hombres, excepto unos pocos que se refugiaron en las cumbres de las montañas próximas.
