The Metroid Prime manual describes Ridley and Kraid as the Space Pirate army's "mainstays"; one could easily imagine this colossus as the muscle and backbone behind Pirate attacks or raids. No Mangá Metroid, Kraid é visto com um "amido" de Ridley. Kraid is a boss that appears in the Metroid series. Kraid is a massive, high-ranked Space Pirate with three eyes (an alien monster) and the ability to generate and fire spikes from his stomach and fingers. He usually appears alongside Ridley. Deep in Brinstar lies the first general of the Space Pirates... Kraid. However, when Super Metroid and Metroid: Zero Mission were released they seemed to have changed the role entirely, with Kraid now being the weakest of the four generals. Kraid is a chubby monster with three bellybuttons, three red eyes, giant clawed hands, and a green body. Kraid is also one of the tallest bosses Samus ever fights, taking up two screens. In Metroid: Zero Mission, Kraid attacks by slashing you with its claws, shooting big nail like missiles out of each of its bellybuttons, and by throwing nails out of its claws. Note that the nail like things explode after a few seconds. To kill Kraid shoot a missile at its eye, (which will make it scream in pain or anger) then shoot a missile in its mouth when it is screaming. thumb|200px Kraid (クレイド) est un antagoniste récurrent de la série Metroid. As is the case with most Pirates stationed on Zebes, Kraid is not a native of the planet, and his origins, along with his homeworld, remain unknown. In all of his canon-appearances, Samus Aran is always required to defeat him, among others, as a means to infiltrate Zebes' Pirate HQ, Tourian. Kraid only possesses organic weapons: he shoots projectiles such as dagger-like spikes from his belly and spinning claws resembling nails or fingers from his hands, all of which are infinitely generated in his body. In his resurrected Super Metroid appearance, he gains the ability to spew out rock-like projectiles from his mouth. Except for the original Metroid game, Kraid is always seen tunneling out of the ground (both partially and entirely) prior to his battles within the series, establishing him as a natural digger. A press kit profile for Super Metroid has Samus refer to Kraid as the "brutal ruler of Brinstar". In official Zero Mission art, Kraid is titled the Awakened Behemoth. Kraid was a Validus and leader of the Primos Guards. Kraid was born on Gino IV in 49067 BCE. He was an only child and had few friends as a child. When he was nine years old, his people made first contact with the Protheans. Over time, the Protheans would occasionally go to Gino IV and leave behind some of their new technology. Kraid was eleven years old when the Protheans broke contact with the Validuss. When the Protheans left, he was more interested in crime. He stole much of the Prothean artifacts and sold them for massive amounts of currency. During a deal gone bad, Kraid killed his client and was later captured by authorities. He spent 5 years in prison, increasing his strength and dexterity. While in prison, Kraid heard of the growing tension between the populace and Emperor Gandred. He was released from prison in the beginning of the Validus Rebellions. During the rebellions, he met Renos and became good friends with him. Together, they started riots in many cities. Kraid often stole supplies from imperial facilities and brought them to the Validus who suffered most. At the end of the riots, Kraid became part of Renos' colonization fleet and a miner. During the war with the Vesprin, Kraid was given the title of War Chief by Renos and was sent on a number of missions, usually winning in landslide victories. At the age of 21, Kraid became friends with Selao, Aios, and Leiandra when he formed the Primos Guards. He later gained recognition in the public eye when he created the Primoku martial art. The Primoku was practiced by the Primos Guards as a form of defense and quick executions. It later became the basis for all Validus close-combat. He became a recluse who spent time learning of spirituality from Selao and became a powerful biotic. After learning biotic abilities, Kraid created the Primanta martial art. The Primanta was an updated form of the Primoku, utilizing biotic abilities to brutally eliminate multiple targets at once. As a master of martial arts, Kraid was the greatest warrior in Validus history. When the Vesprin attacked Vela, Kraid slaughtered them easily, leaving their ground forces crushed. He was sent to obliterate their forces during land battles while Renos dealt with aerial forces. This led to an end of the Vesprin. At age of 24 years old, Kraid returned to his life style as a hermit, living alone until he was begged by people to teach them the martial arts. He lived this way until he was approached by Aios and Renos. They asked if he would lead the Primos Guards again as a new threat known as the Reapers were discovered as a deadly threat. He became the captain of the dreadnought, Death Chariot, and was quickly recognized as a brilliant captain and strategist. Kraid is a green reptilian-like alien from the Metroid series. In his resurrected Super Metroid appearance, he gains the ability to spew out rock-like projectiles from his mouth. Kraid weighs over 110 tons (100 metric tons, or 220,460 pounds) and is more than 65 feet (20 meters) tall. Kraid appears later in the Metroid manga fighting Samus. The manga doesn't outright tell what Kraid is, but he is described as being "Ridley's comrade". Mother Brain also says that "his skin is on par with an anti-optical shield", explaining how most weapons cause him very little damage.
