George Samuel Kirk, Sr.
rdfs:comment
George Samuel Kirk, Sr. was a Federation Starfleet officer on active duty in the 23rd century. His first and middle names were from TOS novel Final Frontier, but only his first was apparently made canon in Star Trek. George Kirk was the husband of Winona Kirk and the father of George Samuel Kirk, Jr. and James T. Kirk. During at least the 2230s, Lieutenant Commander George Kirk was executive officer on the USS Kelvin under Captain Richard Robau. (Star Trek) The senior Kirk had lived to see Jim become captain of the Enterprise (Star Trek), but apparently died a year or so afterwards. George Samuel Kirk, Sr. (also known as George Joseph Kirk or Eugene Claudius Kirk) was a noted Human Starfleet officer in the 23rd century, serial number SA-733-9624-AM. (Star Trek) Nero's incursion from 2387, as well as some other events, may have delayed the Kelvin from reaching Earth so Jim could be born in Iowa, rather than aboard a medevac shuttle. The senior Kirk had lived to see Jim become captain of the Enterprise (Star Trek), but apparently died a year or so afterwards. A scene filmed for, but cut from, TOS: "Operation -- Annihilate!" refers to the possibility of Peter Kirk being sent to live with his grandmother after the death of his parents. His grandfather is not mentioned. George Samuel Kirk, Sr. (also known as George Joseph Kirk or Eugene Claudius Kirk) was a noted Human Starfleet officer in the 23rd century, serial number SA-733-9624-AM. (TOS website: Starfleet Shipyard)
