Other than his physical looks, he shares many similarities with Touka such as his cold, hotblooded attitude and a habit for kicking people. However, he seems to be harsher compared to his sister and surprisingly nicer than his Aogiri superiors. Ayato bears deep grudges against his father, Arata, for abandoning him and Touka when they were young. Ayato has even stated that the whole reason for hating Kaneki was his resemblance to Arata. It was also pointed out by Kaneki that Ayato cares deeply for Touka subconsciously, as shown when he beat her down first rather than allowing her to suffer a slow, torturous death from Yamori. Ayato also seems to have a soft spot for rabbits. History Early Life Ayato grew up on the 2oth Ward with his sister Touka and his father Arata. His dad would often try to help the two of them blend into human society by taking them to local Library to study and feeding them human food to help them blend in and not get noticed. Ayato however, had believed that all of it was solely a human's world and that ghouls weren't normal or able to fit into human society. One night he had made a promise to his dad that he would protect Touka at any cost whenever she would get in trouble before he was going on his regular scavenging routine but his father never came back. He had assumed that he was killed by the Ghoul Investigators and he and his sister went to a women to tell of her father's disappearance but when they couldn't eat the human food, she sold them out to the CCG and Touka helped her and Ayato escape by using her Kagune on the investigators. As Ayato got older, he wandered around in the Wards of Tokyo in search of more power and has since than claimed multiple feeding grounds in the 14th Ward and joined Aogiri at some point in time. Manga Ayato ordered Kazuichi Banjou to search for Rize Kamishiro. When Banjou didn't answer his phone calls, Ayato feared that Yamori and Nico would overtake him. Thus, he decided to go himself to Anteiku, where the 20th ward's information is collected. Together with Yamori and Nico, he fought Touka Kirishima and Ken Kaneki at Anteiku. He defeated Touka in this fight and took Kaneki to the Aogiri hideout together with Yamori and Nico. In the hideout, Ayato brought Kaneki to Tatara. On the way, Kaneki asked Ayato about Touka's state, but Ayato hit him as an answer and told him that he was not allowed to ask and follow orders obediently. After Tatara had decided that Kaneki could not be used, Tatara allowed Ayato to do with Kaneki as he liked and Ayato gave him to Yamori. He then fights Touka when she is trying to rescue Kaneki during the Raid on the Aogiri Hideout by the C.C.G. and manes to overpower and defeat her even going far as to eat her Kagune. After Kaneki defeats Yamori and leaves him for dead, he is faced with Ayato. Ayato grows apprehensive when Kaneki openly points out that he really did care for his sister, as seen when he subtly saved her from Yamori's wrath. Despite Kaneki's assumptions, Ayato denies it, and the two engage in a fight. As retribution for Ayato, and vengeance for Touka, Kaneki \"half-kills\" Ayato, by breaking one hundred and three of the two hundred and six of his bones practically crushing the entire half of his body. Ayato is then rescued by Noro. Anime Ayato first appears in episode 9 of the Tokyo Ghoul anime where he and a few other ghouls are on a beach as he is eating a small band of humans. He is told of how Rize isn't in the location where they were looking for her and he takes off his mask and ends up going towards Anteiku where his sister works at in search of Rize. He breaks in and comes across Banjou as he and his group are in the restaurant and he has no excuse. Ayato then speaks with his sister until Yamori and Nico show up at the restaurant. He then punches Touka and uses his kagune on her and walks out with Yamori, Nico, and Kaneki who they've abducted. He appears again where he is on the roof with Nico, Noro, Tatara, the Bin Brothers and Eto overlooking the oncoming battalion of CCG Soldiers ready to raid the hideout and is assigned which part he has to defend. He then runs into Touka and fights her while also going on about how ghouls are monsters and how she's \"cozied up\" to the humans. He then fights Kaneki who's escaped and killed Yamori and is taken away by Noro after the Hideout was on the verge of collapsing. In season 2, Ayato is seen where Kaneki joins the Aogiri Tree and is now his partner as the two of them serve side-by-side on missions and seem to have frogotten about previous tensions. The two of them are seen whers they are rescuing Naki from the CCG and are participating in the Aogiri raid on the Ghoul Detention Center helping freeing hundreds of thousands of ghouls to help replenish their ranks. Ayato ends up fighting a ghoul investigator but gets overpowered but is rescued by Eto. Abilities A lifetime of fighting against CCG investigators and ghouls has resulted in Ayato being well versed in hand to hand combat with the ability to overcome experienced opponents such as his sister Touka. Combining his kagune's advantage in long distance attacks with his close combat capabilities makes Ayato a strong opponent to defeat. Ukaku Kagune: Like his sister, Ayato is able to release RC gas and can form a single wing on both of his shoulders. Like many Ukaku ghouls, he is agile and able to shoot bullets from both wings. However he also suffers from a low RC supply and therefore tires if a battle is dragged out for too long."] } } }
