Lavos
rdfs:comment
Lavos is one of the main villains in the Super Nintendo hit RPG Chrono Trigger. In the Spring 2005 Contest, Lavos scored a victory over Mother Brain, and then went on to prove that Liquid Snake wasn't as powerful as many claimed him out to be. Lavos is the main and final enemy in Chrono Trigger. The creature crash-lands in 65,000,000 B.C. Over millennia, Lavos is burrowed deep within the planet's core, slowly draining it's energy. Lavos' energy also has an effect on the surface, being responsible for the existence of magic and the Time Gates. The monstrous creature emerges in 1999 A.D. and destroys almost everything that's left on the planet. Lavos and Lavospawn are bio-organic creatures which are dropped onto planets from an unknown home source, only to enter hibernation for many millions of years before finally draining the planet of all its energy. After destroying the planet's surface, it will spawn a multitude of clones (the Lavospawn) and prepare them to infect other worlds. If awakened prematurely, it will often defend itself against its intruders and has the power to transport them through time or simply eradicate them in an instant. It seems to prefer the scattering, presumably to let it's assailants live on knowing they have failed spectacularly. Lavos (in Japanese: ラヴォス Ravosu) is Chrono Trigger's main antagonist and final boss, an alien parasite which crash landed in the year 65,000,000 B.C. It was named "Lavos" by Ayla, a word she made up from the root words "La" meaning "fire" and "Vos" "big" in the Iokan language. Lavos' true name (if it even had one) is unknown. Lavos crashed down on the planet in the year 65,000,000 BC, landing on Tyran Castle and burying itself deep underground. It fed on the planet's life force, forcing an ice age. In 12,000 BC, the kingdom of Zeal tapped into Lavos's power with the Mammon Machine. When Crono and his allies attacked the Machine in the Undersea Palace, Lavos awoke. It rained destruction on Zeal, and the floating islands fell to the ground. Crono sacrificed his life so his friends could escape Lavos's destruction. Lavos was the main villan of Chrono Trigger, and has so far only been mentioned a few times in the comic, with its only actual appearance being in a short explanation Alex gave about the Muramasa and how it was related to the current situation at hand. Lavos came to Earth with the intention of draining its energy so that it could produce genetically enhanced spawn, which would then continue the cycle on other planets. In the North American version of the game, it is claimed once in the series that Lavos directly influenced all technology and life on the planet, evolving the planet's life forms to cultivate it, and make itself stronger. However, the line is absent in the Japanese version. It was named "Lavos" by Ayla, a word she made up from the root words "La" meaning "fire" and "Vos" meaning "big" in the Iokan language. Lavos' true name (if it even had one) is unknown. Lavos is, of course, much more famous in Andoras for the Lavosi Gang Wars, a small but regionally massive conflict which enveloped the entire region in chaos for several years. Lavos has three different forms. The first form is the outer shell, which resembles the Peluda, a mythical beast in French mythology. The second form consists of a large humanoid form with two arms. The third and final form is Lavos Core, consisting of three parts: a humanoid center, and two floating 'bits'. Apparently, the absolute core of Lavos is one of these bits, since it can revive its other parts and destroying it defeats Lavos.

n5:abstract
Lavos and Lavospawn are bio-organic creatures which are dropped onto planets from an unknown home source, only to enter hibernation for many millions of years before finally draining the planet of all its energy. After destroying the planet's surface, it will spawn a multitude of clones (the Lavospawn) and prepare them to infect other worlds. If awakened prematurely, it will often defend itself against its intruders and has the power to transport them through time or simply eradicate them in an instant. It seems to prefer the scattering, presumably to let it's assailants live on knowing they have failed spectacularly. Lavos was the main villan of Chrono Trigger, and has so far only been mentioned a few times in the comic, with its only actual appearance being in a short explanation Alex gave about the Muramasa and how it was related to the current situation at hand. In the Middle Ages, the wizard Magus tried to defeat Lavos, but Crono and his allies stopped him, thinking he was summoning Lavos to destroy the world. Magus's summoning awakened Lavos briefly, and it sucked Crono and his party back to the time of its arrival, while Magus ended up in 12,000 BC. After having lived beneath the earth for thousands of years, Lavos finally surfaced, on the day called the Day of Lavos, and destroyed almost everything on the planet, making it a barren wasteland. In the ruined future, Lavos reigns from atop Death Peak. Its spawn will eventually leave Earth in search of new planets to consume. After tying up whatever loose ends they could, Crono's party attacked Lavos, breaking through its shell and fighting its core. Defeating it saves the future. Lavos is Chrono Trigger's primary villain, an alien parasite which crash landed in the year 65,000,000 B.C. It was named "Lavos" by Ayla, a word she made up from the root words "La" meaning "fire" and "Vos" "big" in an ancient language. Lavos' true name (if it even had one) is unknown. Despite it originally just being in translation though in Chrono Cross it appears this actually is the case as a large portion of the game involves many layers of time line event controller which all end at Lavos. In the original timeline, Lavos slept for millions of years, gaining power until 1999 AD, when he emerged and put the world into an apocalyptic state. However, because of the interference of many of the characters, he was summoned at two other points in time—12000 BC and 600 AD. While traveling in 2300 AD, Crono, Marle, and Lucca see a video of the Day of Lavos which occurred in 1999 AD, and decide to prevent it somehow. Magus is also after Lavos for destroying his home era of 12000 BC Lavos has three different forms. The first form is the outer shell, which resembles the Peluda. The second form consists of a large humanoid form with two arms. The third and final form is Lavos Core, consisting of three parts: a humanoid center, and two 'bits'. While the natural "dreamstone" is a substance responsible for the first evolution of human beings from animal apes to sentient creatures, it is revealed in Chrono Cross that Lavos is responsible for the creation and advancement of the actual modern human species. Upon impact, a splinter of Lavos's shell broke off. This becomes the focal point of Chrono Cross, the Frozen Flame. Lavos is also the final boss in Chrono Cross, except in the form of the Devourer of Time, the result of the defeated Lavos assimilating Schala in the darkness beyond time. In the Spring 2005 Contest, Lavos scored a victory over Mother Brain, and then went on to prove that Liquid Snake wasn't as powerful as many claimed him out to be. Lavos is, of course, much more famous in Andoras for the Lavosi Gang Wars, a small but regionally massive conflict which enveloped the entire region in chaos for several years. Lavos (ラヴォス Ravosu) is Chrono Trigger's main antagonist and final boss, an alien parasite which crash landed in the year 65,000,000 B.C. It was named "Lavos" by Ayla, a word she made up from the root words "La" meaning "fire" and "Vos" meaning "big" in the Iokan language. Lavos' true name (if it even had one) is unknown. Lavos is also the final boss in Chrono Cross, except in the form of the Time Devourer, the result of the defeated Lavos assimilating Schala in the darkness beyond time. Using the eponymous Chrono Cross, Serge sucessfully separated Schala from Lavos, and destroyed the parasite once and for all.
