Quark is a type of fresh cheese, also known as tvorog (from the Russian творог), topfen (from the Austrian name), biezpiens (from Latvian), and varškė (from Lithuanian). It is made by warming soured milk until the desired degree of denaturation of milk proteins is met, and then strained. Dictionaries usually translate it as curd cheese or cottage cheese, although most commercial varieties of cottage cheese are made with rennet, whereas traditional quark is not. It is soft, white and unaged, similar to some types of fromage frais. It is distinct from ricotta because ricotta (Italian: recooked) is made from scalded whey. Quark usually has much lower fat content (about the same as yogurt) than cream cheeses and has no salt added. A quark (pronounced /ˈkwɔrk/, or , ) is an elementary particle and a fundamental constituent of matter. Quarks combine to form composite particles called hadrons, the most stable of which are protons and neutrons, the components of atomic nuclei. Due to a phenomenon known as color confinement, quarks are never found in isolation; they can only be found within hadrons. For this reason, much of what is known about quarks has been drawn from observations of the hadrons themselves. Not a Ferengi bartender, nor a subatomic particle, but a 1970s sci-fi parody of Star Trek from Get Smart co-creator Buck Henry. It was basically the US-version of Red Dwarf, but with only eight episodes. The show was set on the United Galaxies Sanitation Patrol Cruiser, a garbage scow working for the United Galaxies Space Station Perma 1. It regularly satirized Star Trek, Star Wars, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Flash Gordon. The characters were: The existence of quarks was first theorized in 1903 by James Joyce, an Irish poet who, while extremely drunk, accidentally staggered into a particle accelerator laboratory, and acquired temporary superintelligence from lethal radiation exposure. Within a matter of minutes, he managed to scrawl a whole mess of horrible prose and complicated equations on a blackboard, just before collapsing dead in a pool of his own vomit. An autopsy revealed his brain to be made of the glue from the bindings of a book he had evidently stolen from Einstein. Hank and Ben used their Blue Jet to extract quarks from various gold ore, and then alter it with their quark rectifier into any metal they chose. Although this was only a temporary transformation, as the quarks reverted back to their original form eventually. [[Image:|thumb|300px|right|Quark]] Physikalisch besteht unser ganzes Universum aus Quark. Quark, one of the most influential of modern Ferengi thanks to his location at Deep Space Nine when the Bajoran wormhole was discovered, owns Quark's Bar on DS9's Promenade, but hates being called a "barkeep," preferring "host" instead as he fancies himself an empathetic dispenser of advice as well as a goodwill ambassador and legitimate entrepreneur extrordinaire. He also caters formal affairs for the Starfleet crew and named a new souffle creation after Kai Winn when the Bajor-Cardassian peace treaty was signed. In reality, he has the reputation of getting anything for a price — with the help of a network of sources who also help him keep a hand in most illegal or illicit trade and deals going on around the station. He has even tried to force sex by contract from the unwitting Dabo girls A quark is a fundamental particle that makes up the subatomic particles within an atom. The nucleus, made up of protons and neutrons, and the electrons are all made of quarks. A Finals-universe character from The Refugees, who would have been played by Tate Urrea, had he not failed at life entirely and shown up. Quark is the Szalinski family's dog and one of the main protagonists from the 1989 film Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, its sequel, and its television series. Quark was a Ferengi bartender. He operated a bar aboard Terok Nor under the Cardassians and later aboard the same station, know renamed Deep Space 9, under Starfleet. He had a brother named Rom and a nephew (Rom's son) Nog. Quark was a Ferengi male and the longtime owner and bartender of Quark's Bar, Grill, Embassy, Gaming House, and Holosuite Arcade, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Quark Enterprises, Inc., aboard the space station known as Terok Nor and, later, Starbase Deep Space 9. Quark is one of the characters from Lunar: The Silver Star, Lunar: Silver Star Story, Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar Legend. At the start of the game, Alex and Ramus both sneak into his cave hopes that Ramus can acquire one of the Dragon Diamonds and sell it, but they both end up meeting the dragon. Quark still gives them the diamond, since Alex had passed the White Dragon's Trial on his path to becoming a Dragonmaster. Later, Alex and Luna leads Ghaleon to Quark, unaware of Ghaleon's evil intent. Quark is surprised to see Ghaleon, commenting they hadn't seen in a long time and revealing Luna's true self to Ghaleon after he asks Quark. Ghaleon then reveals he blames the Four Dragons and Althena for Dyne's death, and his intent to rule Lunar before killing Quark. With his final Quarks were cuboid in shape with a sphere on top. Four spikes came from opposite sides of this sphere, with one on top. They had rectangular compartments on their chests into which their cuboid arms folded. Their arms were equipped with weaponry and manipulating appendages. The spore spikes were red along with the rim attaching them all. The rest of the sphere was black and the body was grey. The Quarks' feet were large pieces of metal in the shape of a block; poles attached these to the body. (TV: The Dominators) Quark is an extra-dimensional agent of Mojo. Quark is one of the anti-Federation organizations that is based on Klaus III. Quark has expanded its reach greatly in recent years, and is now so large that neither the Pangalactic Federation nor the Klausian government can afford to ignore it. Apparently, the seat of power in Quark's establishment has cahnged into new hands, and the new leader's charisma has been drawing in many Klausians who until recently has followed a policy of non-interference with respect to the Federation. Quark was a Ferengi male and was the proprietor of the eponymous bar on space station Deep Space 9 (and formerly Terok Nor). (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) Sometime between 2369 and 2371, Quark purchased a suit from Garak that contained a forgotten data-rod in its pockets. The data-rod contained a copy of the working schematics for the Multi-Vector class starship Phoenix-X. Section 31 had shared the information with the Obsidian Order that Garak was affiliated with. Quark then gave them to Smiley in 2371, of which they were used to create the ISS Phoenix-X. (Star Trek: Phoenix-X: "Mirrorlyness!")

(DS9: "The Way of the Warrior") Quark is the Szalinski family's dog and one of the main protagonists from the 1989 film Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, its sequel, and its television series. Quark is an extra-dimensional agent of Mojo. In late 2376, his brother, Grand Nagus Rom, appointed Quark the Ambassador to Bajor, with Quark's bar serving as Ferengi Embassy. Quark also served a brief term as Grand Nagus of the Ferengi Alliance when it was believed that Grand Nagus Zek had died; he was removed from office and Zek restored when it was revealed that this was a ruse by Zek to test his son. Quarks were cuboid in shape with a sphere on top. (TV: The Dominators) Not a Ferengi bartender, nor a subatomic particle, but a 1970s sci-fi parody of Star Trek from Get Smart co-creator Buck Henry. The characters were: * Adam Quark: The Captain, who longs for glamorous assignments, but ends up picking up garbage bags. Often gets into adventures without meaning to. * The Bettys: The Bridge Bunnies, navigators and pilots of the ship. One of them is a clone of the other, but neither one will admit which. Both of them lust after Quark. Notably played by a pair of Doublemint gum twins. * Gene/Jean: Number Two, with the twist that he's a "transmute," with both male and female chromosomes (and both sets of hormones). Thus, as Gene, he's a Jerkass, but as Jean (complete with a female voice), she's a Technical Pacifist. * Ficus Pandorata: The Spock taken to the extremes, he's a "Vegeton," a member of sentient plant race. He always speaks with Spock Speak, has no emotions at all, cares about no one, and breeds by pollinating. * Andy: A Cowardly Sidekick Robot Buddy, he was basically a stupid Marvin. * Otto Palindrome: The Obstructive Bureaucrat who is in charge of Perma 1. He loves making Quark miserable. * Dink: The Non-Human Sidekick for Otto, he was basically Cousin It from The Addams Family IN SPACE. * The Head: The Bad Boss crossed with a giant Rubber Forehead Alien, Otto answered to him, and he frequently assigned Quark to bizarre jobs. (DS9: ) Quark is one of the characters from Lunar: The Silver Star, Lunar: Silver Star Story, Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar Legend. With his final breath, Quark tells Alex he must become a Dragonmaster to stop Ghaleon. In the remakes, Ghaleon instead imprisons Quark and uses him as fuel for the Grindery. right|thumb|170px|Quark Quark jest Ferengi, najstarszy syn Keldara i Ishki, brat Roma i wujek Nog. (Star Trek: Phoenix-X: "Mirrorlyness!") Quark is one of the anti-Federation organizations that is based on Klaus III. There is no doubt that the Federation's system of government allows it to easily attain the approval of the masses. However, there are many people in the Milky Way galaxy who do not desire to live under such a system. Neutral parties are drawn into the Pangalactic Congress where they are denounced, and then the federal will is imposed as the will of the "sweeping majority". The will of those who are too weak militarily or economically to stand up to the Federation is suppressed as a "minority opinion". This is a facet of that bloated giant known as the Pangalactic Federation that many cannot abide. Quark is an organization that aims at using mediation to bring together forces that desire independence or true autonomy from the Federation, in order to win complete self-rule. A Finals-universe character from The Refugees, who would have been played by Tate Urrea, had he not failed at life entirely and shown up. Hank and Ben used their Blue Jet to extract quarks from various gold ore, and then alter it with their quark rectifier into any metal they chose. Although this was only a temporary transformation, as the quarks reverted back to their original form eventually. There are six types of quarks, known as flavors: up, down, charm, strange, top, and bottom. Up and down quarks have the lowest masses of all quarks. The heavier quarks rapidly change into up and down quarks through a process of particle decay: the transformation from a higher mass state to a lower mass state. Because of this, up and down quarks are generally stable and the most common in the universe, whereas charm, strange, top, and bottom quarks can only be produced in high energy collisions (such as those involving cosmic rays and in particle accelerators). Quarks have various intrinsic properties, including electric charge, color charge, spin, and mass. Quarks are the only elementary particles in the Standard Model of particle physics to experience all four fundamental interactions, also known as fundamental forces (electromagnetism, gravitation, strong interaction, and weak interaction), as well as the only known particles whose electric charges are not integer multiples of the elementary charge. For every quark flavor there is a corresponding type of antiparticle, known as antiquark, that differs from the quark only in that some of its properties have equal magnitude but opposite sign. The quark model was independently proposed by physicists Murray Gell-Mann and George Zweig in 1964. Quarks were introduced as parts of an ordering scheme for hadrons, and there was little evidence for their physical existence until 1968. All six flavors of quark have since been observed in accelerator experiments; the top quark, first observed at Fermilab in 1995, was the last to be discovered. A quark is a fundamental particle that makes up the subatomic particles within an atom. The nucleus, made up of protons and neutrons, and the electrons are all made of quarks. In Germany, quark is sold in small plastic tubs and usually comes in two different varieties, Magerquark (lean quark) and Sahnequark (cream quark) with added cream. While the former is often used for baking and as health food, e.g. as a breakfast spread, the latter also forms the basis of a large number of quark desserts. Much like yoghurts in most parts of the world, these treats mostly come with fruit flavouring (Früchtequark, fruit quark), and are often also simply referred to as quark. As the large popularity of quark desserts is limited to mainly the German-speaking countries, confusion might arise when talking about quark with people unfamiliar with the German or the Austrian cuisine. He has even tried to force sex by contract from the unwitting Dabo girls who work for him; an employee's error is made up from garnished pay. When Odo calls him "disgusting," he proudly boasts: "Til the day I die!" and says lying is a gift. But he does sometimes show remorse out of guilt for even his own actions, and relishes the thrill of gambling, even in business; otherwise, he has said, the trade comes off as simple bartering.
