rdfs:comment
Purple Dinos, or Pterodactylus maximus, were secretly released on July 15, 2009, alongside Albino, Cheese, Ochredrake and Pygmy Dragons. Dinos are a special release of as opposed to the traditional dragons found on the site; they do not possess genders and cannot breed. They also cannot be revived if killed. Dinos come in 5 colors: Green, Red, Blue, Yellow and Purple. Purple Dinos are the only color not considered an original species of Dragon Cave, having been introduced onto the site much later than all the others.

This egg looks like it doesn't belong; it is brightly colored with white spots. It's much lighter than the other eggs.

n30:abstract
Purple Dinos, or Pterodactylus maximus, were secretly released on July 15, 2009, alongside Albino, Cheese, Ochredrake and Pygmy Dragons. Dinos are a special release of as opposed to the traditional dragons found on the site; they do not possess genders and cannot breed. They also cannot be revived if killed. Dinos come in 5 colors: Green, Red, Blue, Yellow and Purple. Purple Dinos are the only color not considered an original species of Dragon Cave, having been introduced onto the site much later than all the others. Adult Dinos used to originally possess genders, with all of them gendering male (and later female, shortly before the change to remove genders entirely). Despite having genders though, they still could not breed. The current sprites were based loosely on the sprites of Yoshi, which were the Dinos' original sprites before the Great Fog. It is because of this that they have a different art direction than the rest of the dragons on-site, opting for a more light-hearted and cartoonish style. Another theory for this art direction however, is that they're not considered entirely serious in terms of the game's lore, and are seen as more of an on-site joke like the Chickens. Under the old Breed sort, these creatures sorted as "Yoshi Purple" on a user's scroll. As of August 14, 2016, they now sort using their Encyclopedia name with other non-dragons at the bottom of users' scrolls.
