Shivers is one of the Portrait Ghosts in the Mario series that appears in Luigi's Mansion. He is 72 years old according to the Game Boy Horror and appears to have a crush on Melody Pianissima. He is revealed to have a fear of fire, due to Luigi putting his candlestick on fire with his fire element. He is said to look for his last master according to the Game Boy Horror. He has 100 HP total. After Luigi finishes and vacuums up the Floating Whirlindas, there will be a candelabra floating around in the hallway far north located on the first floor and will see a shadow with it and Shivers can be visible be Luigi using his Game Boy Horror. After Luigi obtains the Fire element, he will need to set Shivers's candelabra on fire and then Shivers will panic and run into the Butler's Room. Luigi will need to get there first or else Shivers will not be there. When Shivers enters the room, he will sit down on a stool and relax and Luigi must use his Poltergust 3000 to suck him in. If Luigi fails to catch him, he will flee the room and Luigi will need to start the process all over again. After Shivers is defeated, Luigi will gain the key to the Conservatory where Shivers often floats around. The game is heavy on puzzle gameplay, and many of the puzzles are surprisingly difficult. These range from Enter Solution Here to Guide Dang It. There is also an abundance of scary moments. A sequel, Shivers II, Harvest of Souls, was released in 1997, featuring a ghost town and Native American demons.
