n23:abstract
The TIE Line Fighter, more commonly known simply as the TIE Fighter, the TIE Line was the standard starfighter for the Imperial Navy during the Galactic Civil War and beyond. As much a symbol of the Empire’s might as the Star Destroyer or the stormtrooper, the ubiquitous TIE Line could be found anywhere in the galaxy where the Empire had a presence. Although it is considerably weaker than other starfighters of its class, the TIE Line can nonetheless be a deadly presence on the battlefield. Often deployed in large numbers, the TIE Line is famous for swarming its enemies with superior numbers. It is also extremely nimble and hard to hit thanks to its small profile. With an experienced pilot that knows how to fly it, the TIE Line can fly circles around other starfighters. The Empire has largely replaced the TIE Line with the TIE Interceptor, but it can still be found in garrisons on the fringes of its territory. In addition it has found a home in independent planetary garrisons and with other organizations.
