Nessus
rdfs:comment
Nessus (Ancient Greek: Νέσσος) was a famous centaur in Greek mythology. He was killed by Heracles. He was the son of Centauros. He fought in the battle with the Lapiths and survived. He later ferried passengers across the Euenos river. He attempted to abduct Deianeira, Heracles' bride, during one such voyage, but was fought off by the hero. Before dying he told Deianeira to give his tainted blood to Nessus was a famous centaur who was killed by Hercules. His tainted blood in turn killed the hero. Nessus did this by tricking Deianira into spreading his blood on Hercules' shirt, telling her that it was a love potion. After killing him, you are rewarded with the first large Majestic Chest encountered in the game so far. * Heavy Strike: A sword attack with increased damage. Recommended resistances: None Nessus is a large centaur, who is known as the "River Guardian". He is a minor villain in the film Hercules. Nessus is a male (of the second type, his species has three sexes) of the species Pierson's Puppeteer, a herbivorous species noted for two heads whose mouths act as capable hands. Pierson's Puppeteers are technically advanced in most of the physical sciences. Nessus has two children with Baedeker a male of the first type and at the time, Hindmost to the puppeteers. He also bears dichromatic eyes, (whether this is a birth defect or a result of a continuity error following his replacement "head" following the Ringworld expedition remains to be known). Nessus is a Hydra Dragon obtainable from either the Severite's Treasure Hunt or dragon eggs. Nessus the centaur was a farmhand who worked for Hercules and Deianeira. He was a devout worshipper of Hera and he was extremely jealous of Hercules. One night, while drunk, he told Deianeira that he was better than Hercules. Later, he tried to rape Deianeira but Hercules stopped him by shooting him with an arrow. As he lay dying, Nessus bled on Deianeira's cloak. He prayed to Hera to turn his blood into poison and the goddess did. Then, with his last breaths, Nessus convinced Deianeira to give Hercules the cloak for protection. She did, but instead of protecting the hero, it later attacked him. As a final act of malice, Nessus told Deianira, as he lay dying, that his blood would ensure that Heracles would be true to her forever.[1]Deianeira foolishly believed him. Later, when her trust began to wane because of Iole, she spread the centaur's blood on a shirt and gave it to her husband. Nessus is a male (of the second type, his species has three sexes) of the species Pierson's Puppeteer, a herbivorous species noted for two heads whose mouths act as capable hands. Pierson's Puppeteers are technically advanced in most of the physical sciences. Nessus, like all Puppeteers ever met by humans, is insane by Puppeteer standards. Those who are sane are far too sensible (read "cowardly") to go off-world or interact with non-Puppeteers. This makes Nessus ideal to hold position of a "scout" for his species. Nessus demonstrates traits that in humans would be diagnosed as schizophrenia, manic-depressive disorder, displacement, and at times, extreme suggestibility. Nessus also differs from other puppeteers in that he rarely coiffures his mane, instead choosing to simply comb it flat. He is also well known for his vice of drinking warm carrot juice despite it having negligible dietary value for a puppeteer. Nessus has two children with Baedeker a male of the first type and at the time, Hindmost to the puppeteers. He also bears dichromatic eyes, (whether this is a birth defect or a result of a continuity error following his replacement "head" following the Ringworld expedition remains to be known). Nessus is featured in the short story "The Soft Weapon" (printed in the 1968 collection Neutron Star) and is also Hindmost of the expedition to the Ringworld in the 1970 book of the same name. Nessus is a central character in the novel Fleet of Worlds,, set almost 200 Earth years before Ringworld, and its sequels. Nessus is a large centaur, who is known as the "River Guardian". He is a minor villain in the film Hercules. Nessus is a Hydra Dragon obtainable from either the Severite's Treasure Hunt or dragon eggs. Nessus was one of the Centaurs on Cheiron's expedition to the Tin Isle. This article is a . You can help My English Wiki by expanding it. Heracles went to a gathering of heroes, where his passion got the better of him. Meanwhile, Deianeira accidentally spilled a portion of the centaur's blood onto the floor. To her horror, it began to fume by the light of the rising sun.She instantly recognized it as poison and sent her messenger to warn Heracles but it was too late. Heracles lay dying slowly and painfully as the shirt burned his skin—either in actual flames or by the heat of poison. He died a noble death on a funeral pyre of oak branches, and was taken to Mount Olympus by Zeus and welcomed amongst the gods for his heroic exploits. A similar theme appears in certain versions of the story of Medea. Nessus was a famous centaur who was killed by Hercules. His tainted blood in turn killed the hero. He was killed by Heracles. He was the son of Centauros. He fought in the battle with the Lapiths and survived. He later ferried passengers across the Euenos river. He attempted to abduct Deianeira, Heracles' bride, during one such voyage, but was fought off by the hero. Before dying he told Deianeira to give his tainted blood to Heracles, if he should ever stop loving her, and apply it to a piece of his clothing. Deianeira did this and applied it to a tunic after she suspected him of being unfaithful. When Heracles wore it, his skin started to burn because of the poisonous blood. He tried to take of the tunic but instead ripped his skin of, which caused his death. He had a brother called Nemis. Nessus (pronounced NEHS-uhs) is Hell's lowest layer, ruled by the Prince of Darkness, Asmodeus. After killing him, you are rewarded with the first large Majestic Chest encountered in the game so far. * Heavy Strike: A sword attack with increased damage. Recommended resistances: None
