The M1 Garand Semi-Automatic Rifle was the standard weapon of U.S. infantry soldiers from 1936–1957. It is a semi-automatic rifle, self loading shoulder weapon fed by an en-bloc clip that holds eight .30-06 Springfield rifle cartridges. The Garand has a muzzle velocity of 865 meters per second (2,837 feet per second) and an effective range of 550 meters (600 yd). The M1 Garand was the first semi-automatic rifle used by any infantry. It was designed by John Cantius Garand and became the standard service rifle of the United States Army and Marine Corps from 1936 to 1957. It succeeded the bolt-action M1903 rifle and was followed by the selective fire M14. Even after the M14 was introduced, it was used until 1966 in smaller numbers. The M1 is still used by the military by drill teams and military honor gaurds. The M1 fires the .30-06 springfield and is a popular civilian rifle for hunting, target shooting, competitions, and gun or military collecting. The U.S. M-1 Garand Rifle was the standard issue service rifle for the United States during World War II, Korea, and limited service in Vietnam. The M-1 Garand is the world's first successful semi-auto rifle being used and mass-produced. The M-1 is semi-automatic, it's a gas-operated clip fed shoulder fired weapon, The M-1 Garand was first conceived in 1923, by John Garand (Gair-und) an employee at the Springfield Armory in Massachusetts, who had hit upon a workable semi-automatic rifle design that caught the attention of the military, Garand's original design was a disappointment, plagued with malfunctions, feed and reliability problems. Springfield had hope, and assigned a team of engineers to assist Dr. Garand in the project, the design was not perfected until 1932. In 1936, the finaliz The M1 Garand is recommended for use in medium to long range engagement, where its adjustable sight will bring an advantage. The rifle can also do well in short range engagement, however be aware that when clearing buildings the length of the weapon would be a disadvantage, as it can be grabbed by the undead or the living. The M1 Garand Is an American-made service rifle. Officially, it replaced the M1903/A5 Springfield rifle as the primary U.S. service rifle in 1937, though the latter still saw use throughout and beyond World War II, and was replaced by the M14 battle rifle. Firing in the same caliber as the Springfield, .30-06, it deals almost the same damage and has almost the same accuracy when fired slowly, allowing the barrel to settle. It is semi-automatic, making it faster than a bolt action, has peep sights, making it easier and faster to line up targets than older leaf sights with a large front sight to assist in aiming, and reloads via an 8-round en-bloc clip, which allows it to be reloaded more quickly than magazine fed rifles and stripper clip rifles, and it's gas operation reduces the recoil comp In 1947, these weapons were used by United States soldiers stationed at an United States Army Air Forces base. (DS9: "Little Green Men") These weapons were prominently used in the holodeck recreation of WWII created by the Hirogen aboard USS Voyager in 2374. Chakotay, Tom Paris, and Tuvok all utilized this weapon during the simulation. (VOY: "The Killing Game", "The Killing Game, Part II"). In an alternate timeline in which Germany invaded the United States of America, the resistance fighters used many weapons, including the M1. (ENT: "Storm Front", "Storm Front, Part II") M1 Garand — американская самозарядная винтовка. The M1 "is an air-cooled, gas-operated, clip-fed, and semiautomatic shoulder weapon. This means that the air cools the barrel; that the power to cock the rifle and chamber the succeeding round comes from the expanding gas of the round fired previously; that it is loaded by inserting a metal clip (containing a maximum of eight rounds) into the receiver; and that the rifle fires one round each time the trigger is pulled ". After the eight rounds have been shot the clip automatically ejects causing a "ping" noise to occur. M1 Grand är en gevär som utvecklat av Tau'ri. Under 1997 använde Stargate Command personalen M1 Grand gevären under minnestjänsten när dem trodde Doktor Daniel Jackson var död. (SG1: "Fire and Water") The M1 Garand is available from the Mystery Box in all WAW maps. It isn't the greatest gun, as damage to the head is reduced, making torso shots essential. Like all semi-automatic rifles, it is good up to around level 5, but should be swapped out in favour of a fully automatic weapon such as the Thompson. The M1 Garand is a weapon that appears only in Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. It is used by the American Engineer and Covert Ops classes only. The M1 Garand is a semi-automatic, gas-operated, rifle and was the standard infantry weapon of the United States Armed Forces from 1936 to 1957. The weapon was the first semi-automatic rifle to be generally issued to the infantry of any nation. Called "The Greatest Battle Implement Ever Devised" by General George S. Patton, the Garand officially replaced the bolt-action M1903 Springfield as the standard service rifle of the United States Armed Forces in 1936. Dodatkowo znaleźć go można w Call of Duty: Black Ops. (VOY: "Giochi di morte - prima parte", "Giochi di morte - seconda parte"). M1 to podstawowa oręż Władców Zwierząt. The M1 Garand (formally the United States Rifle, Caliber .30, M1) was the first semi-automatic rifle to be generally issued to the infantry in any nation. In 1936, it officially replaced the bolt-action Springfield M1903 rifle as the standard service rifle of the United States military (the M1903 retaining a valuable role as a sniper rifle), and was subsequently replaced by the select-fire M14 in 1957. However, the M1 continued to be used in large numbers until 1963, and to a lesser degree until 1966. M1 Garand — винтовка в игре «Mafia Ⅱ». The M1 Garand is a .30-06 caliber semi-automatic rifle in the Day of Defeat games. It is one of two rifles featured in Day of Defeat and Day of Defeat: Source with its counterpart the Kar98k. The M1 Garand is used by the Allied faction, specifically the American army. Die M1 Garand ist ein halbautomatisches Gewehr, das in allen Call of Dutys erschien, die im 2. Weltkrieg spielen. Die Waffe ist berühmt für ihr metallernes "Pling"-Geräusch beim Nachladen. The M1 Garand is a semi-automatic rifle designed by John C. Garand but wasn't manufactured until 1936; before the start of World War 2. It was one of the standard issued rifles issued to the United States Armed Forces during World War 2 and was given the attachment of a barrel mounted grenade launcher. It has an 8 round internal En Bloc magazine of .30-06 Springfield ammunition. George S. Patton described the M1 Garand as quote "The greatest battle implement ever devised". The weapon also fought along side the M1A1 Carbine and even the B.A.R. It can still be purchased today in America. It makes its debut in Wolfenstein Enemy Territory. This semi-automatic rifle was used during World War II by American Engineers and Covert Ops. It has 8 bullets in clip. It's effective up to medium distance because a significant spread of bullets makes it difficult to use at great distances. It cant be reloaded in mid-clip. It does more damage than MP40 or M1A1 sub-machinegun. The story of the first semi-automatic rifle ever widely-adopted as a standard military arm began after the start of the Great War, when the inventor John C. Garand began to develop a semi-automatic (or self-loading) rifles. He worked at the government-owned Springfield armory and during the 1920s and early 1930 developed a number of design. Early rifles were built using somewhat rare system of the cartridge primer blowback, but due to some reasons this system was unsuitable for a military rifle, so he switched to the more common gas-operated system. Das Repetiergewehr M1 Garand ist eine Waffe aus Day of Defeat. The M1 Garand is a Small Guns skill weapon in Fallout Tactics. The M1 Garand, used by the USMC and U.S Army Soldiers in The War of the Worlds (1953), is a semi-automatic, gas-operated, rifle and was the standard infantry weapon of the United States Armed Forces from 1936 to 1957. The M1 Garand is a semi-automatic rifle featured in all World War II era Call of Duty games, as well as in Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. This weapon is notable for its distinctive metallic "pinging" sound when an empty clip is ejected. The M1 Garand is a weapon in the Rising Storm edition of Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad. The story of the first semi-automatic rifle ever widely-adopted as a standard military arm began after the end of the First World War, when the firearms inventor John C. Garand (Canadian born, then American citizen) began to develop a semi-automatic self-loading, gas operated service rifle. This new rifle, was designed to replace the Springfield 1903 rifle, as well as required to outshoot and outperform all existing bolt action rifles in the world. The main rifles the new rifle was designed to outperform was the Springfield rifle, the British Enfield, German Mauser, Japanese Arisaka, and Italian Carcano, the new American rifle must shoot faster, have better, easier sights, load, unload, and reload faster, have less recoil, have an effective range of 700 yards or higher, must be able to fie Division Delta Codenamed:Anti-Virus is known to have many of these, Kar98k and even M1903 Springfield rifles at their disposal. Die M1 Garand ist ein halbautomatisches Gewehr, das in allen Call of Dutys erschien, die im 2. Weltkrieg spielen. Die Waffe ist berühmt für ihr metallernes "Pling"-Geräusch beim Nachladen. In 1947, these weapons were used by United States soldiers stationed at an United States Army Air Forces base. (ENT: "Storm Front", "Storm Front, Part II") The U.S. In 1936, the finalized rifle designated "US Rifle Cal. 30 M1" was assessed by the US military, and officially adopted that year as the official replacement for the aging M1903 rifles. The rifle entered mass production and was first fielded in 1941, and was retired in 1957 by the M14 rifles, (which was effectively a selective fire, fully automatic version of the M-1 with a detachable 20 round box magazine, and re-chambered for the 7.62x51mm NATO cartridge), despite this, M1 was still being used in early Vietnam War. The M1 is effective up to a maximum range of 1,200 yards with the addition of a telescope (seen on M1s in late WWII/Korea, designated M1C and M1D). The Semi-Auto design allowed American soldiers to lay down powerful, speedy, and accurate, long range firepower and gave the American soldier a tremendous advantage over his foes whom still used slower Bolt-Action rifles. The Japanese produced a copy of the M1 Garand design during WW2, chambered for their own 7.7x58mm Arisaka round (which was ballistically similar to the British .303 (7.7x56mmR) cartridge) and had a magazine that held 10 rounds (fed with two five-round stripper clips instead of the 8-round en-bloc clips of the U.S. M1). It was designated the Type 4, but the rifle was only a prototype and never reached the front lines; it was produced in very small quantities. The M-1 had a unique clip style as well, the clips were known as the "En-Bloc" clips, which were made of thin tin metal which housed eight .30-06 Springfield (7.62x63mm) rifle cartridges which were staggered in two rows,(four rounds on each side), the post war variant of En-Bloc Magazine has a capacity of 5 rounds though. This gave the M-1 three rounds more than the German Mauser Kar98k rifle which only housed five rounds in the magazine, or the Japanese Type 38/94/99 Arisaka rifles, which also only had five round stripper clips as well. The only "downside" (if you can even call it that) to the M-1's En-Bloc clips, were that, after all eight rounds were fired, the now-empty clip, ejects from the magazine, and the clips being made of tin metal, it gave off a distinctive "pinging" sound, which led to soldiers becoming concerned about nearby enemies hearing the sound and knowing they were out of ammo, and would zero in on their position, it even went so far as the Government experimenting with various types of plastic clips at the Aberdeen Proving grounds, however, no viable alternate material was found to be a suitable replacement to the tin-metal clips, the En-Bloc clips remained the same tin-metal, after some time, soldiers in the field reported that the "ping" wasnt nearly as audible as had been originally thought, in fact at 20 feet distance, the ping was practically impossible to hear (unless it were dropped on concrete etc.), let alone the enemy at 150 yards away, amongst the immense sounds of combat, it was impossible to hear. though it was still a very small element of risk at close range, but even then, (based on German veteran's testimonies, and first hand accounts) in the chaos of battle, the enemy didn't really have time to care about what might have been a ping sound or not, there's just too much going in the heat of battle even to care or pay attention, and even if they did hear the sound, it only meant a single soldier is out, not the rest of his teammates, so getting up and attacking where the sound came from would still be suicidal. The clip ejecting only really benefited the American soldier, letting him know he's out and there's no point in lining up another shot. The loading of the clips were simple, it was inserting the clip into the rifle's magazine, and closing the charging rod thus closing the receiver, and chambering a round. The rifle could be topped-off with single rounds like in all the other rifles of the era, however the En-Bloc clips were shaped differently than other clips of the period, the unique design of the En-Bloc made it somewhat cumbersome to add single rounds to a partially fired clip while it was inserted in the magazine, especially in a combat scenario, however the En-Bloc clip could be easily manually ejected from the rifle by pressing the "clip release latch", located on the left side of the receiver, first the shooter would pull back the charging rod and hold it there (if you don't do that, you will likely end up getting the infamous "M1 thumb", which can hurt yourself badly), then press the clip release latch, the full or partially fired clip will then eject out of the magazine, clearing the weapon of all ammo, aswell as locking the charging rod in place, thus allowing the shooter to insert a fresh clip, and quickly resume shooting, this process took about 3-4 seconds in the hands of a trained shooter, this was how the M-1 Garand was reloaded without firing all the rounds, it was much preferred over firing the rifle till empty,(which was recommended by field manuals), reloading mid-clip benefited the soldier by saving partial clips for shooting later, it avoided the somewhat risky "ping" sound, and decreased the chances of a malfunction. In Hell's Highway, it's interesting to see British soldiers armed with M1 Garand and M1 Carbine, in real life they preferred bolt-action Lee-Enfield rifles and in Operation Market Garden, Sten and Bren guns. The M1 Garand is available from the Mystery Box in all WAW maps. It isn't the greatest gun, as damage to the head is reduced, making torso shots essential. Like all semi-automatic rifles, it is good up to around level 5, but should be swapped out in favour of a fully automatic weapon such as the Thompson. The M1 Garand is a weapon in the Rising Storm edition of Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad. (VOY: "Giochi di morte - prima parte", "Giochi di morte - seconda parte"). The M1 Garand is recommended for use in medium to long range engagement, where its adjustable sight will bring an advantage. The rifle can also do well in short range engagement, however be aware that when clearing buildings the length of the weapon would be a disadvantage, as it can be grabbed by the undead or the living. M1 Grand är en gevär som utvecklat av Tau'ri. Under 1997 använde Stargate Command personalen M1 Grand gevären under minnestjänsten när dem trodde Doktor Daniel Jackson var död. (SG1: "Fire and Water") The story of the first semi-automatic rifle ever widely-adopted as a standard military arm began after the end of the First World War, when the firearms inventor John C. Garand (Canadian born, then American citizen) began to develop a semi-automatic self-loading, gas operated service rifle. This new rifle, was designed to replace the Springfield 1903 rifle, as well as required to outshoot and outperform all existing bolt action rifles in the world. The main rifles the new rifle was designed to outperform was the Springfield rifle, the British Enfield, German Mauser, Japanese Arisaka, and Italian Carcano, the new American rifle must shoot faster, have better, easier sights, load, unload, and reload faster, have less recoil, have an effective range of 700 yards or higher, must be able to field strip faster and easier without tools, be user friendly and extremely simple to operate, and must be extremely reliable and depenable in the worst conditions. With these requirements in mind, Dr. Garand worked at the government-owned Springfield armory and during the 1920s and early 1930 developed a number of designs. Early rifles were built using somewhat rare system of the cartridge primer blowback, but due to some reasons this system was unsuitable for a military rifle, so he switched to the more common gas-operated system. He filed a patent for his semiautomatic, gas operated, clip-fed rifle in 1930, and received an US patent for his design late in 1932. This rifle was built around then-experimental .276 caliber (7mm) cartridge. At the same time, his rifle was tested by the US Military against its main competitor, a .276 caliber Pedersen rifle, and was eventually recommended for adoption by US Army early in the 1932. But a little bit later an US general MacArthur stated that the US Military should stick to the old .30-06 cartridge. Foreseeing that, Garand already had a variation of his design chambered for 30-06. Finally, on the 6th of January 1936, after 13 years of development, the U.S. military officially adopted Garand's rifle, and it was designated "US Rifle Cal. 30 M1". When the USA entered the World War 2, the mass production of the M1 rifles was set at the Springfield armory and at the Winchester. During the war, both companies developed over 4 million M1 rifles. The M1 Garand was by-far the most mass-produced semi-automatic rifle of World War 2. During the war, the M1 Garand proved itself as a reliable, accurate and powerful weapon. There were minor attempts to improve it during the war, but these did not left experimental stages, except for two sniper modifications, M1C and M1D. Both were approved for service in the 1945 and both featured a telescope sight which was off-set to the left due to the top-loading feature of the M1. After the end of the WW2 the production of the M1 in the USA was stopped, and some rifles and also licenses to built it were sold to other countries, such as Italy and Denmark. With the outbreak of the Korean war in 1950 the production of the M1 for US forces was resumed early in 1952. Rifles were manufactured at Springfield armory, and also at Harrington & Richardson Company (H&R) and International Harvester Company. Those companies manufactured M1s until the 1955, and Springfield Armory produced the Garands until 1956. With the official adoption of the new rifle and ammunition in 1957, M14 and 7.62x51mm NATO, respectively, for US service, the M1 rifle became obsolete. It was still used during the later years, however, due to the lack of M14 and M16 rifles, and saw some service during the early period of the Vietnam war. Later, many M1s were transferred to the US National Guard, used as a training weapons by US Army or sold to civilians as a military surplus. Few M1 are still used by all branches of the US Military as a ceremonial weapons. Other than USA, M1s were used by Italy (where these rifles were lately redesigned and rebuilt into 7.62mm BM-59 rifles). Denmark, France, Greece, West Germany, Indonesia, Korea and multiple other countries, largely replacing their current service rifles such as the Lee Enfields and Mauser rifles. There also were attempts to rebarrel the M1 for 7.62mm cartridge in the USA and to adopt a detachable 20-rounds magazines from Browning BAR rifles, but these were less than successful and haven't seen any significant service. The M1 was fed from the integral box magazine, which was probably the best part of the whole design, it allowed fast semi-automatic firing, and fast loading and reloading. The magazine was fed using only the 8-round en-bloc clips, which stayed inside the magazine until all 8 rounds were shot. As soon as the magazine (and clip) became empty, bolt was stopped at its rearward position by the bolt catch, and the empty clip was automatically ejected from the magazine with the distinctive sound, this automatic ejection and clearing of the magazine was faster than box magazine fed rifles, that required the shooter to manually remove the magazine. The clips could also be manually ejected from the rifle at any time, simply by pulling the bolt back and holding it in place, then pressing the clip latch, once the clip ejects, the shooter loads in a fresh clip, this procedure took around 5 seconds, far easier, practical, and faster than topping off with clumsy single rounds with bolt action rifles, giving the M1 even more of an edge in combat. Topping off the M1 with single rounds was also possible, but was slower than simply ejecting the clip then reloading, topping off the M1 wasn't done often. M1 featured a wooden stock with separate handguards and a steel buttplate. The forwardmost part of the muzzle served as a bayonet mounting point. Sights of the M1 consisted of the front sight with dual protecting "wings", dovetailed into the gas block at the muzzle, and the adjustable peephole rear sights, built into the rear part of the receiver. Sniper versions (M1C and M1D) also featured scope mounts on the receiver, offset to the left from the axis of the rifle, so it was possible to load it with clips and also to use its iron sights with scope installed (in the case of the scope damage, for example). There were some attempts to make a handier and more compact version of the M1 by shortening the barrel by some 6 inches (152 mm), with standard wooden or skeleton metallic buttstocks, but these attempts never left the experimental stages. Some short barreled "tankers" M1 rifles, appeared in the post-war period, are not the genuine designs, but the "sawed-off" variations of the standard "long" rifles. The M1 Garand replaced the M1903 Springfield for the liberation of Hawaii when the US Army and Marines returned in early 1943. Many in the Japanese Army envied having a rapid firing rifle, but quickly came to recognize the sound it made when it was empty. The M1 Garand is a weapon that appears only in Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. It is used by the American Engineer and Covert Ops classes only. The M1 Garand was a type of projectile weapon used by the United States of America and a number of its allies during the mid-20th century. This rifle was used in World War II and the Korean War. Division Delta Codenamed:Anti-Virus is known to have many of these, Kar98k and even M1903 Springfield rifles at their disposal. M1 Garand – amerykański półautomatyczny karabin występujący we wszystkich grach z serii Call of Duty, których akcja rozgrywa się podczas II wojny światowej. Dodatkowo znaleźć go można w Call of Duty: Black Ops. It is semi-automatic, making it faster than a bolt action, has peep sights, making it easier and faster to line up targets than older leaf sights with a large front sight to assist in aiming, and reloads via an 8-round en-bloc clip, which allows it to be reloaded more quickly than magazine fed rifles and stripper clip rifles, and it's gas operation reduces the recoil compared to bolt action rifles. It also has more rounds available in a single clip than most other rifles. All in all, the M1 Garand was the most technologically advanced battle rifle for the majority of the war until the German Sturmgewehr 44 was put into service. The M1 Garand is a rifle. The M1 was used extensively by U.S. forces in World War II, the Korean War, and, to a limited extent, the Vietnam War. Most M1 rifles were issued to Army and Marine troops, though many thousands were also lent or provided as foreign aid to America's allies. The Garand is still used by drill teams and military honor guards. It is also widely sought by the civilian population as a hunting rifle, target rifle, and military collectible. The name "Garand" is pronounced variously as or . According to experts and people who knew John Garand, the weapon's designer, the latter version is preferred. It is now available for American civilian ownership through the Civilian Marksmanship Program. He filed a patent for his semiautomatic, gas operated, clip-fed rifle in 1930, and received an Republic of Tresedia patent for his design late in 1932. This rifle was built around then-experimental .276 caliber (7mm) cartridge. At the same time, his rifle was tested by the Tresedian Military against its main competitor, a .276 caliber Pedersen rifle, and was eventually recommended for adoption by Tresedian Legions early in 1932. But a little bit later an Tresedian general, Praetor McAuthurius stated that the Tresedian Legions should stick to the old .30-06 cartridge. Foreseeing that, Garand already had a variation of his design chambered for 30-06. Finally, at the 6th January, 1936, the Garands' rifle was adopted by the Tresedian Legions as an "rifle, .30 caliber, M1". Early issue rifles, however, showed a quite poor characteristics, jamming way too often for a decent military arm, so a lot of noise was raised that eventually reached the Tresedian Congress. In the 1939, the major redesign was ordered, and Garand quickly redesigned a gas port system, which greatly improved the reliability. Almost all M1 rifles of the early issue were quickly rebuilt to adopt a new gas system, so very few "original" M1 Garand rifles survived to present days, and those are extremely expensive collectors items. When Tresedia entered the Great War, the mass production of the M1 rifles was set at the Springfield armory and at the lacron. During the war, both companies developed about 4 millions of M1 rifles, so M1 Garand is a most widely used semi-automatic rifle of the Great War . During the war, M1 Garand proved itself as a reliable and powerful weapon. There were minor attempts to improve it during the war, but these did not left experimental stages, except for two sniper modifications, M1C and M1D. Both were approved for service in 1945 and both featured a telescope sight which was off-set to the left due to the top-loading feature of the M1. After the end of the War the production of the M1 in Tresedia was stopped, and some rifles and also licenses to built it were sold to other countries, such as Jackistan and parts of some of the Islands of Pacifica. With the outbreak of the Haalfing war in 1950 the production of the M1 for Tresedian forces was resumed early in 1952. Rifles were manufactured at Springfield armory, and also at Harrington & Richardson Company (H&R) and International Harvester Company. Those companies manufactured M1s until the 1955, and Springfield Armory produced the Garands until 1956. With the official adoption of the new rifle and ammunition in 1957, M14 and 7.62x51mm NATO, respectively, for Tresedian service, the M1 rifle became obsolete. It was still used during the later years, however, due to the lack of M14 and M16 rifles, and saw some service during the early period of the Great Patriotic war. Later, many M1s were transferred to the Tresedian Auxillery and Pratorian Guard, used as a training weapons by Tresedian Legions or sold to civilians as a military surplus. Few M1 are still used by all branches of the Tresedian Military as a ceremonial weapons. Other than Tresedia, M1s were used by Pacifica(where these rifles were lately redesigned and rebuilt into 7.62mm BM-59 rifles). Oreacal, Jackistan and some other countries. There also were attempts to rebarrel the M1 for 7.62mm cartridge in the Tresedia and to adopt a detachable 20-rounds magazines from Browning BAR rifles, but these were less than successful and haven't seen any significant service.
