As wireless technology and unpaid overtime erased the distinction between home and work, AssHoTech\u2019s lab workers and engineers began bringing their own hobby projects into the lab. First they made Chia Pot \u2013 tiny farms of dwarf marijuana that anybody could grow on a desktop. Then they made Z-Monkeys, human-looking brine shrimp with monster-sized libidos. But things didn\u2019t really get crazy until an AssHoTech biologist brought in a box of common hermit crabs \u2013 the kind you find in a pet store \u2013 for a few evil experiments. Placed in a too-crowded tank, hermit crabs will often fight with one another, but this fighting is too slow-paced and sporadic to be of any real interest. So our bored biologist altered the crabs, making them faster, smarter, and more aggressive. Within weeks, crabfighting groups had sprung up across the sprawling AssHoTech campus. Crabfighting held something for everybody. Biologists went on tweaking genes to make crabs better and more lethal. Because the crabs would live in just about any shell-like object, the IT and engineering guys began building armored, weapon-laden shells for their little warriors. Business and marketing types became bookies in the complex betting network that grew around the fights, and public relations officers \u2013 so useless in the real world \u2013 used their psychological warfare skills and devious natures to become lords of the crabfighting arena. Morale was never better at AssHoTech. Productivity was up. The company issued a flurry of patent requests as its biotech guys, tweaking their hobby projects, overcame fundamental hurdles and streamlined the gene-splicing process. The company\u2019s website and press releases seemed to have an added panache. It was as if, suddenly, someone was home and the lights were on. One middle manager did an informal study, and concluded that a worker who wasted an hour of company time per day on crabfighting would actually be more productive than the worker who put in a full eight hours. Fred Hawkins was well-known for making chummy visits to low-level employees, taking them our for beers and listening to their observations. All of AssHoTech was soaked in Hawkins\u2019 pushy charisma, and the workers wanted crabfighting to be a charisma-free zone. And then there were the legal and public relations ramifications. Animal activists were already upset about the baboons who were dying in agony on B wing. The general public was fairly queasy about those human organs growing in pigs at the AssHoTech Ranch in Cordele. The FDA and EPA were expressing concern about cross-pollination and the prospect of modified animals accidentally getting into the food chain. The American public might be okay with Frankenfood, but they weren\u2019t going to accept massive genetic manipulation of an innocent animal when it didn\u2019t result in some sort of marketable product. So they banned it. On March 20, 2005, T. Fred Hawkins issued a lengthy memo now known, in AssHoTech circles, as the Riot Act. Though it never mentioned crabfighting by name, or even acknowledged a problem, the memo laid out harsh penalties for anyone caught \u201Cworking on any non-approved project on company time, or with company equipment\u201D or \u201Cbring the product of any said work into the workplace.\u201D The penalty for said work was immediate termination. Many years ago I sent down a manuscript which contained the story of your creation, rules on how to live your life and a host of entertaining short stories, all ingeniously woven together. I was very excited to see that the manuscript received critical acclaim, became the all-time best-seller and spawned a whole host of fan literature. Not only did people write extensive commentary on my manuscript - some of which I really love - but a few individuals even wrote entire books continuing and developing my stories into something entirely new. I'm very happy to have inspired such creativity, and I have no problem with people using my characters and my ideas, but over time people seem to have forgotten who wrote what and a lot of people seem to believe that all of it came from me. That simply isn't true. In fact, while we are on the subject of truth, let me tell you a story, a true story. A long time ago, I, God, was walking down the street in God-world. Actually we don't have streets here, and gods don't move around because there's no sense of dimension, but this human-metaphor will do. So there I was, minding my own business, when suddenly I fall down a hole. Again, hole is a metaphor for something that you simply can't imagine. I fell for a long time, and eventually I hit the bottom of the hole. I shouted for help but no one came. Slowly I realised that I was so far below the street that it would take a very long time for my voice to reach another god and it would take them longer still to find a way to rescue me. So as I'm sure you can imagine I was scared and lonely. Lest you have forgotten, I'll remind you again that I am God and what I'm telling you now is completely true. Well, at the bottom of this hole, sat I alone. I stared at the walls around me, they were very smooth and simple and despite many efforts I could not climb them. I feared I would go crazy in my isolation. But then a thought occurred to me. I, God, thought the following: if I fell down this hole, then perhaps other things have also fallen here too. Upon thinking this thought, I immediately became happier. Yes, there would definitely be something down here, something small perhaps, little more than a speck of dust. So I set about searching the dark corners of my hole. Lo and behold after much straining of my eyes I came upon something wonderfully intricate, something that would have the potential to entertain me for a long time much like one of your films or computer games. Why, this tiny speck of intricate detail was your universe. I had seen many things like it before, they pretty much litter the streets like old hail stones, but never had I bothered to look so closely and observe the inner workings of these things. Perhaps you can see what happened next. Well, there I was in god-world observing - my sense are rather different to yours - your universe and waiting to be rescued. For a while that's all I did, sit and observe. Once or twice I muttered something to myself, as you do in isolation especially when watching an engaging film. But unlike a film in your world I quickly discovered that my words reached your tiny planet and were being heard and recorded. For a moment I really believed I was crazy, but upon a second inspection I was sure that I was correct: I really could send messages down to these funny little creatures. Well, it was at this point that I decided I would tell you all a story. It would be a long story because I had a long time to tell it, and it would be a reasonably ingenious and engaging story because I wanted to have an affect on as many people as possible. The idea came to me that the story would be about me and you. I would claim to be your creator, and judge and I would ask you to worship me. Everything else was an afterthought or a sub-plot. As you know, and I have already mentioned, you took this bait and succeeded in entertaining me. So thank you. You will be glad to hear that I was rescued from the hole a long time ago, and I carried you with me. You are now sitting on a shelf in my home where I can check up on you every now and again. Believe me, all this is absolutely true, it's the word of God himself. Why, you may wonder is God telling us this now? Well, earlier today, for the first time I told one of my god-friends all about you. I even showed him your universe. His immediate reaction was that this was pretty exciting and would be big news to the other gods. But soon changed his mind, saying that it was incredibly mean to have lied and caused such havoc in this tiny fragile world. He recommended that I send you one final message explaining everything and apologising for the damage. This, as I hope you realise by now, is that explanation and apology. My intention is that upon reading this you will forget your religion and move on to what it is you humans do best: loving each other and learning about your world. Tu verras aussi dans le livre de fabrication et le chapitre des artefacts que tu peux fabriquer du tissu! \u00C9l\u00E9ment essentiel pour faire tes frusques du moment! Comme tu pourras le voir, la fabrication d'un lot de tissus demande ces ingr\u00E9dients : 10 volumes de bave de crapaud, 10 sacs brindilles et 10 os de poulet. Ta sant\u00E9 se perd quand tu te prends une racl\u00E9e! Tu r\u00E9cup\u00E8res un peu de sant\u00E9 toutes les heures. Quand t'es \u00E0 z\u00E9ro tu es directement ressuscit\u00E9 au refuge des druides avec un peu moins de moral, ainsi qu'une perte important d\u2019\u00E9nergie astrale et tu r\u00E9cup\u00E8res seulement la moiti\u00E9 de ta sant\u00E9 max... fait gaffe \u00E0 toi! Ton \u00E9nergie astrale te permettra bient\u00F4t de fabriquer des objets magiques comme des bagues, couronnes, parchemins etc... Tu verras, dans le livre de fabrications il sera indiqu\u00E9 la quantit\u00E9 d'\u00E9nergie astrale de n\u00E9cessaire, comme n'importe quel ingr\u00E9dient. Tu r\u00E9cup\u00E8res aussi un peu d\u2019\u00E9nergie astrale toutes les heures. Ton moral fonctionne comme un barom\u00E8tre et te donne des bonus ou des malus sur tes actions. Quand tu poss\u00E8des un moral moyen, ton bonus est neutre, plus tu te rapproches du maximum, et plus tes actions seront efficaces...Le ramassage de ressources, les combats et l'utilisation de certains objets sont directement influenc\u00E9s par ton moral, donc surveille le bien! T'as compris c'est super important! Fais super attention, si ton moral descend tes actions seront moins efficaces. Au cas o\u00F9 t'es en gal\u00E8re de moral (\u00E7a risque d'arriver...), sache que tu poss\u00E8des ta chambre (juste \u00E0 l\u2019est du refuge des druides), et l\u00E0 tu pourras faire le k\u00E9k\u00E9 avec ton ombre pour l'augmenter, \u00E7a te fera du bien de te la jouer un peu! Si ton moral est haut, tu en perds un peu toutes les heures. S'il est bas tu gagne toutes les heures. Le moral se stabilise normalement autour d\u2019une position neutre. Bref, pour bien terminer ce tutoriel va d\u00E9gommer quelques crevures. Quand t'auras fini tu iras directement voir Coupdeboule, ce gros bourrin de lutin te donnera une autre qu\u00EAte. Tu pourras trouver des crevures dans les chemins mystiques ou au bord des lacs.
