Dark Koopatrols are the toughest and most elite koopas of the Koopa Clan. They are the same variety as Koopatrols, but with a purple shell and more health and power. One of their more dangerous attacks is charging themselves up and then slamming into Mario, spike first. They also can't call in reinforcements like regular Koopatrol. In Super Paper Mario, Dark Koopatrols play the "chase and hit role" like normal Koopatrols. Though, they aren't purple and red-eyed like their dark look of Flopside Pit of 100 Trials enemies. In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, a Dark Koopatrol is a high ranking opponent in the Glitz Pit, and can be spoken to in the major league locker room. He tends to talk about paths to power and how Mario compares to him.
