A Wessex Pastorale is a Clarinet Solo piece for B Flat Clarinet, with a Piano accompanist. Composed by European Organist H.C.L. Stocks, this 3/4 piece lasts over 119 measures, and maintains a flowing Baroque-style theme throughout the piece. Beginning with an elegant Andante Grazioso ballad, and flowing into a Piu Allegro solo, the piece then features the Clarinet with an Ad Libbed Cadenza. Which is followed by a smooth Dim. E Tranq and Perendosi decrescendo ending. The piece maintains a G Major (Concert F Major) signature throughout the beginning half (measures 1-60), but breaks into a C Major (Concert B Flat) signature throughout the Piu Allegro solo (measures 61-84), but returns to the G Major scale by the Cadenza (beginning at measure 90) and remaining until the end.
