Malus resembles a sorcerer and is the and most powerful colossus in the game. Due to Wander's exhaustion from previous battles, the loss of his long-companioned horse, and the somber timbres of Malus's battle music, the battle is considered the most emotionally impacting. Malus ist der Name einer biotechnologischen Lebensform vom Planeten Hakol. Sie wird als erster Schritt einer Invasion anderer Planeten von den Hakolians benutzt. Während des englischen Bürgerkriegs im 17. Jahrhundert landet ein Malus auf der Erde im englischen Dorf Little Hodcombe. Dort verursacht er durch sein telepathisches Feld unter den Truppen so viel Hass aufeinander, dass sie in einer letzten großen Schlacht das Dorf niederbrennen. Die Dorfbewohner, die sich in die Kirche zurückziehen können, mauern den nun inaktiven Malus darin ein und bringen in der Kirche viele Steinreliefs mit seinem Aussehen als das Antlitz des Teufels an. Drei Jahrhunderte später, im Jahr 1984, wird im Dorf diese und viele andere Schlachten auf Anregung von Sir George Hutchinson nachgestellt. Dieser und einige andere Dorfbewohner werden zu diesem Zeitpunkt vom wiedererwachten Malus beeinflusst und stellen die Schlachten immer realistischer da, so dass bei der letzten Schlacht alles detailgetreu nachgestellt wird, also auch die Verbrennung der Mai-Königin (deren Rolle unfreiwillig von Tegan übernommen werden soll) und möglicherweise die Zerstörung des Dorfes. Der Fünfte Doctor kann jedoch den Malus mit Hilfe der TARDIS entkräften, so dass er sich mit letzter Kraft selbst zerstört und dabei die Kirche, in der er eingemauert wurde, über sich einstürzen lässt.
