They first appeared in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. They are commonly found carrying items like Red Coins and even bombs. An egg can easily take it out. If eaten and spat back out it will become a regular Shy Guy. Another type of Fly Guy is the Leaf Guys, which are basically Fly Guys with leaves as their propellers. "This page was eaten by goombas and is still under reconstruction. We will not apologize for any stupid stuff that accidentally gets written down. If you get all upset about it, it's your problem, not mine. Fly Guys were created during the great mutation when Shy Guy, a biological helicopter, a butterfly, and 17.3 hiking boots were ( strangely) taped together. They all exploded and all the little pieces were found by Yoshi, who happened to be passing by. Yoshi, having no idea what to do with it all, emailed them all to his best buddy, Malleo, who stuffed them all into his refrigerator and forgot about them for the next 35 years. Finally, Malleo's refrigerator broke and all the little Shy Guy/helicopter/butterfly/hiking boot pieces started to rot. Malleo, nearly passed out from the horrible smell (Think Wario to the 3rd power), threw them out. After banging around for another few decades, they ended up in Napoleon's Revival machine and became the Fly Guys we know and love today."@en . . "Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island"@en .
