USS Bluefin
rdfs:comment
The USS Bluefin was an Albacore-class Border Service cutter which saw extensive service during the Cardassian wars of the 2350s and the Dominion War in the 2370s as an escort vessel. Her primary mission with the Border Service was search and rescue, interdiction, and patrol duty. (Star Trek: Tales of the USS Bluefin) The USS Bluefin was placed on Atlantic Patrol and was assigned to Submarine Squadron 55 (SubRon 55). On 15 October 1942, she was sent on her first war patrol under the command of Captain James Deerborn in support of Operation Flame. Her first war patrol lasted from 28 November to 27 December 1942 off the Spanish coast in the Bay of Biscay. From 19 May 1943 to 14 August 1943 the USS Bluefin would go on seven more war patrols before having to return to the United States to take on her final mission.

The USS Bluefin was placed on Atlantic Patrol and was assigned to Submarine Squadron 55 (SubRon 55). A Man of Letters, Clifford Henshaw, and his men in the Men of Letters' "Black Ops" in the OSS pulled some strings and requisition an active U.S. submarine to transport Delphine Seydoux and a Hand of God to the United States - the USS Bluefin was chosen for this mission. The Bluefin came under attack by a German warship, lead by Befehlsleiter Gumprecht, who was searching for Delphine and the Hand of God. It was believed that the sub was sunk by the Germans on 25 November 1943, its contents never to be recovered. In reality, a Dean Winchester was sent back to retrieve the Hand of God. However, as the Nazis were close to sinking the ship, Delphine used the Hand of God to stop Gumprecht, completely destroying the USS Bluefin and sinking the German destroyer. Eventually, several people found the German Destroyer's wreckage. However, the wreckage of the USS Bluefin was never recovered. The USS Bluefin was an Albacore-class Border Service cutter which saw extensive service during the Cardassian wars of the 2350s and the Dominion War in the 2370s as an escort vessel. Her primary mission with the Border Service was search and rescue, interdiction, and patrol duty. (Star Trek: Tales of the USS Bluefin) Captain Joseph B. Akinola served on the Bluefin for over 25 years, the last eleven as her commanding officer. Bluefin primarily patrolled the Borderland region where Federation, Klingon and Orion space came together. Due to instability following the Dominion War, the crew of the Bluefin was often called upon for escort and SAR missions far from her normal patrol area.
