Poptropica
rdfs:comment
Poptropica was created in September 2007 by Jeff Kinney. The impetus to create yet another on-line role-playing game is that his rather more famous cousin, J.K. Rowling, had invented the Harry Potter franchise, and Kinney's invitations, even to family reunions, were becoming less and less frequent. Although Kinney sought to avoid stereotype as the basement dweller of the extended family, he in fact cemented the role during the debugging stages of the game. Three aspects of the game distinguish it from other Internet endeavors: Poptropica is a computer game for children aged 6-15. You get to make your own character and play lots of games. There are these island that have quests for you to complete. Don't worry, by the time you defeat all of them, more will be released! Poptropica is a small interactive site advertised on Funbrain. It was created by the same people who made Funbrain and is continually growing. It features you making a character and adventuring to different islands with people you need to help. You can also play minigames against other people as well. Poptropica was once a real world until evil people trapped it in their computer but then heroes trapped some of them in their with it including pinchy who disguised himself as a box while the "creators" made it into a website and trapped innocent people ages 6-15 inside it and renaming them with an adjective thing pattern. Write the first section of your page here. Poptropica is an online role-play browser game created by Jeff Kinney and Family Education Network for kids ages 6–15. In the game, players, called Poptropicans travel to different islands and complete quests on them. So far there are forty-five islands released on Poptropica and over 500,000,000 Poptropicans. Poptropica creates a lot of merchandise, including the Poptropica Blimp toy and many outfits, all of which are sold at the Poptropica Shop. They also make action figures, plush models, and "Pocketeers," which are two-inch toys. Poptropica creates a lot of content itself, but sometimes also hires other companies to create content for them. One such company is Treefox Cartoons. Mattel partnered with Poptropica in March of 2010 to promote Hot Wheels. Monster High promotions were added to the partnership on June 8, 2010. All promotions revolve around obtaining outfits and accessories for the avatar characters by participating in events and winning games.

Although Kinney sought to avoid stereotype as the basement dweller of the extended family, he in fact cemented the role during the debugging stages of the game. Three aspects of the game distinguish it from other Internet endeavors: 1. * Virtually all of its users are below the Age of Majority and a working majority are below the Age of Reason. 2. * Nearly no accomplishment in the game is particularly important, and most are not even important within the game. 3. * There are an unprecedented number of decisions, actions, and acquisitions that require a positive cash balance.
